"People are created to be loved. Things are made to be used. The reason why there is chaos in the world is because things are loved and people are used." This quotation similarly reflects the essay Relationships written by Susan Smith Jones.

Many of us want to gain friends and build relationship with others. We have always wanted to feel loved and in love. Love and great joys usually comes from the relationships we form with others. Through any type of relationship we create within other people, it oftentimes represents who we truly are and how we interact and respond. Honestly, every one of us do not have a harmonious relationship even within thy self, parents, relatives, classmates, teachers, friends, and/or within girlfriend or boyfriend. There are times we tend to have arguments and misunderstandings that lead to fighting or destroying the relationship of two or more. We always depend upon physical appearance and not on their worth.

Best example about this is the teenagers' love relationship. At present times, we always look after first the physical appearance of someone then followed by his/her attitudes. We always feel that our love grows bigger and bigger for someone because of what we see - such beauty and perfection. But when the time comes we see someone's imperfections, it causes our love to cease. Hence, the relationship built was over. One more thing is when people tend to dislike someone. This type of relationship tells us that we should look at what we can learn about ourselves and not to feel such an outcast. Based on my experience, I told one of my friends that he's somehow getting into my nerves. Instead of destroying our relationship, I made a way of rebuilding it. I let him realized his mistakes and gave him the chance to change for the better. And now I can proudly say that we have a harmonious relationship - for it is amazing how one's attitudes toward us change when we bring to a relationship our divinity and keep our hearts open.

As for my reflection, I can relate this one to me. I once before had a hard time of building relationships with others. With my friends, I oftentimes stay inside my shell and let my ego conquer my whole self. With my former boyfriend, our relationship was ruined too because I did not allow myself to be detached from my ego and so it resulted to conflicts and misunderstandings between us. All in all, I came to realized that separation of from our own ego helps us to be a very loving person and can stand back from and let go of personal needs and preferences. It will not just create harmonious relationships but also peace, acceptance, contentment and happiness.

In building harmonious relationship with others, we must always put in our mind that we, humans are not nouns but verbs. We are the doer of the action and we are not objects to be used. We must also learn to appreciate others most of all times and remove all the blockages to everybody's and God's presence. We should all give respect to one another - to ourselves, other people and for the life itself. We should put into action the concept of give and take - learn to give for others and time to take from others. We are all equally created by God with uniqueness in our own so we shouldn't judge each other. And lastly, we can all let go of the past and the future for true love waits - resulting for a lasting relationship from being the right person and not finding the right one.
